James Ellis "Jim" Smith

April 25, 1929 ~ February 5, 2004

Funeral services for James Ellis "Jim" Smith, 74 of Weatherford, Oklahoma were held on Saturday, February 7, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. in "The Chapel" of Lockstone Funeral Home with Bro. Lindell Warren officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home in Weatherford.

Jim was born to Frank and Ruth [Coutney] Smith on April 25, 1929, in Reed, Oklahoma and died at his home in Weatherford, Oklahoma on Thursday, February 5, 2004. Jim was raised and attended school in Reed, Oklahoma. He served in the Navy for two years.

He was a truck driver for 33 years. On October 31, 1951, Jim married Anna Belle May in Wellington, Texas making their home in Weatherford.

They lived in Tuttle from 1962 to 1975 before moving back to Weatherford, where he worked for the City of Weatherford where he retired in 1991.

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ruth Smith and one sister, Frankie.

Jim is survived by his wife: Anna Belle of their home in Weatherford; two sons: Bob Long and his wife Marilyn and J.D. James Smith and his fiancee Michelle all of Weatherford; five sisters: Mary Thompson of San Antonio, Texas, Irene Hughes of Plainview, Texas, Doris Dobbs of Moore, Oklahoma, Betty Roberts of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Winona Weaver of Vinita, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-laws, Jewell Ryan and her husband Farris of Idabell, Oklahoma and Ruth May of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

No public services are planned.

McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service in Mustang is in charge of arrangements.
