Wanda Lorene (Pulis) Kirby

June 29, 1925 ~ January 9, 2007

Funeral service for Wanda Lorene Pulis Kirby, age 81, of Chickasha will be held 10:00 am Monday, January 15, 2007 at the First Assembly of God Church in Chickasha. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm Monday at the Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford, Oklahoma.

Wanda Lorene Pulis Kirby was born June 29, 1925 at Colony, Oklahoma the daughter of Ray and Lula [Gyles] Pulis. She died Tuesday, January 9, 2007 in Chickasha.

She and J.C. [Jackson Carrel] Kirby where married January 10, 1942 in Colony. He preceded her in death in 1980.

Mrs. Kirby had lived in Chickasha since 1968. She graduated from Oklahoma College for Women (USAO) with a Bachelors Degree. She was a speech therapist and taught for Jane Brooks School for the Deaf for 27 years. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church. She served on the board of Jane Brooks School and was a former member of Alexander Graham Bell Assoc. Central Oklahoma Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Who's Who among American Teachers, OEA, NEA, CUTA, OREA and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was also a former board member of the Department of Mental Health. She had served as a volunteer at the Cornerstone Soup Kitchen.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter Deloris Kay Kirby; grandsons Ryan and Raydon Kirby and one brother Dale Pulis.

Survivors include: three sons: Willie Kirby and wife Donna of Las Vegas, NV; Ron Kirby of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Tony Kirby and wife Karen of San Antonio, Tx; 8 grandchildren: Richard Kirby, Tamara Kirby Smith, J. Michael Kirby, Michelle Kirby, Patrick Kirby, Stephanie Kirby, Krystle Lyn Kirby, Cassidy (Mac) Kirby; 9 great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Emily and Max Smith, Courtney and Christopher Kirby, Piper and Dara Roper, Katelyn Kirby and Collin Kirby; three sisters: Faye Pulis Smart of Midwest City; Nadine Pulis Melton of Colony; Carrol Pulis Maxwell of Konawa.

Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford, Oklahoma under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Chickasha.
