VESTA LOIS ALBRIGHT

ENID, Okla. - Vesta Lois Albright passed away 6 April 2013, at Willow Creek Health Care Facility in Guthrie, Okla. She was born 1 Feb. 1921, on a farm 51/2 miles east of Arapaho, Okla., to Floyd and Annie Newman.

She attended Normal View and Weatherford High School.

She married Roy E. Albright on 29 June 1939, in Cordell, Okla.

While Roy was in service one Saturday, Vesta went into Blunck's Studio in Clinton to pick up her pictures. While visiting, Mrs. Blunck asked Vesta if she would consider helping them out until Christmas. Vesta took the job and continued working for them for the next 11 years.

During this period, Paul and Dottie (Blunck) Flick purchased a new camera in the fall of 1950. Roy and Vesta took the camera home and put it in the middle of their living room floor. Roy read the instructions and Vesta carried them out, learning to operate the camera. They used their niece, Debbie Newman, for a model. Vesta took the first "School Day" pictures made by Blunck's Studio.

In March 1953, Vesta and Roy purchased and operated Cochrane Studio in Enid, Okla., until September 1976.

After the death of her husband in March 1977, Vesta returned to Weatherford to once again work as manager-photographer until her retirement in 1988. Even after retirement, she worked in the fall, helping with "School Day" pictures.

She moved to, and made her residence in, Edmond, Okla., in order to be closer to her family, and lived there until she moved to Willow Creek Health Care Facility. She loved scrapbooking, arts and crafts, and she loved to mess with her computer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, and parents, Floyd and Annie Newman.

She is survived by brother, Donald and wife Verda Mae Newman of Bethany, Okla.; sister, Mary Anne (Newman) Agan of Edmond; nieces, Debbie Newman of Oklahoma City, Okla., Sharilyn (Agan) Zabinsky and husband Joe of Littleton, Colo., Shelia (Agan) and husband Michael Malone of Plano, Texas; great-niece, Cindy Crowl of Oklahoma City; great-nephews, Chad Crowl and wife of Enid, Nicholas and wife Sharon Creps and children Richard Lane and Madison Cheyeanne of Oklahoma City, Nolan Creps and wife and son Scott of Oklahoma City, and Sean Malone of Plano, Texas.

Funeral service for Vesta will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond. Interment will be 3 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery , Weatherford.
