Virgil Leon Coles, age 89, a Atoka, OK resident formerly of Missouri. He was born on Wednesday, October 14, 1936, to George Ancil and Thelma Dee (Stark) Coles, at Mt. Pisgah, AR. Virgil passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Atoka, OK. He attended High School in Crosby and Searcy Arkansas. Virgil was a sewing machine mechanic. Virgil proudly served his country in The U.S. Air Force. He married Sandra D. (Conover) in 1963. They celebrated over 36 years of marriage before her passing on August 3rd, 1999. Virgil was raised southern baptist and was a member of Rock Falls Baptist Church. He enjoyed puzzles, western books, John Wayne movies and visiting with the family.
Virgil is survived by his sons, Paul Coles and wife Kristy of Lane, OK, Christopher Coles and wife Misty of Orrick, MO; 10 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; sister, Betty Jane Mullens of Henderson, TX; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, George and Thelma Coles; wife, Sandra Coles; sisters, Katy Cottrell, Anna Vee Reed.
