John Harvey Dunlap

Harvey Dunlap, 71 year old Woodward resident, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday March 30, 2021 in the Woodward First Baptist Church with his grandson Pastor Blake Farley officiating. Burial will follow in the South Persimmon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

John Harvey Dunlap was born on June 18, 1949 in Alva, Oklahoma to Clayton and Minnie (McMurphy) Dunlap. Harvey grew up in the Freedom area and later graduated from Freedom High School. On May 22, 1970 he was inducted into the United States Army. While serving Harvey obtained the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, a Purple Heart, and was a Sharpshooter with the rifle. He was honorably discharged on May 21, 1973. Harvey was united in marriage to the love of his life Wendy Worcester on February 7, 1972 in Alva, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Freedom before later moving to Sharon and settling in Woodward. To this union they were blessed with two children, Rob and Misty.

Harvey worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He worked in the oilfield before he began working for Woodward County. Harvey enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandkids, messing around with his cows, going to rodeos, and scrolling through Facebook. He had a special love for his dogs, Jake and Bella. Harvey was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Ascent Church.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy Dunlap; daughter, Misty Thompson and husband Cody; brother, Howard Dunlap and wife Sharyn; sisters, Patsy Rogers and Katherine Bilyeu; grandchildren, Blake Farley and wife Taylor, Rylee Kline and husband Nolan, Colton Cox, Emmalee Thompson, Garrett Dunlap, Abby Farley, Kourtlen Dunlap, Peyton Farley, and Royce Thompson; great grandchild, Ellie Kline; sister in laws, Sally McCann and husband Dave, and Barbara Carper; along with numerous special nieces and nephews and special friends.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Minnie Dunlap; son, Rob Dunlap; brother, Jim Dunlap; sister, Freida Henson; father and mother in law, Robert and JoeAnn Worcester; brother in law, Bob Worcester; and special nephew Leon Rogers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ascent Church with Billings Funeral Home accepting contributions.
