Grace Ann Plasencia, 81, of Dewey, OK, passed away on July 2, 2021, in Bartlesville.

Grace was born December 26, 1939, in Bartlesville to Jeremiah Nichols and Violet Geneva (Alford) Nichols. During her childhood, the family moved around a lot and Grace ended up graduating high school in 1957 at Independence, KS. She moved to California to live with her aunt while working in a cannery, where Grace met the love of her life, Ernest Plasencia. They were united in marriage on April 28, 1960, in San Jose, CA, and their four children were born in California. The family moved to a farm in Cherryvale, KS, that came with two cows, three calves, and one goodhearted dog. Grace was employed as a bus driver for Cherryvale Public Schools for nearly 20 years. In 1994, Ernest and Grace moved to Dewey to be close to Grace’s family.

Ernest preceded her in death on November 18, 2017.

Grace enjoyed keeping busy and enjoyed caring for the animals on the farm. She loved to fish and was a wonderful homemaker. Her children remember her cooking and sewing. Grace was a longtime member of the Memorial Christian Church in Bartlesville, where she was baptized.

Survivors include four children, Diana Spellman and her husband Mark of Tulsa, Laura Daryani and husband Zeino of Phoenix, AZ, Ernest Leon Plasencia of Pittsburg, KS, and Tina Maxwell and husband Michael of Independence, KS; three sisters, Rose Phillips of Bartlesville, Donna Martin and husband Marion of Mustang, OK, and Margie Lewis of Bartlesville; a brother, Jeremiah Nichols of Bartlesville; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Grace was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucy Whaling and Violet Irene Doggett; and a brother, Everett Nichols.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Journey Home, 900 NE Washington Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74006.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Memorial Christian Church in Bartlesville with Pastor Dan Snyder officiating.

Interment will follow on a later date at Dewey Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel.
