Doyn was born to the late David Floyd Mallow and Mayme Ellen (Young) Mallow at Jefferson City, MO on October 3, 1937. When he was 3 years old, they moved to Ozark County in the Brixey MO area where he grew up and attended high school at Gainesville, Missouri. Doyn tells the story of when he was a sophomore in high school and saw a girl with a beautiful smile sitting in the bleachers and had to find out who she was. He and Velma started dating and got married after they graduated high school on August 11, 1956. They made their home in Kansas City, MO for 13 years. Doyn was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co when the company decided to send employees to the Bartlesville location. They moved to Dewey OK in 1970 and happily raised their family there. Doyn retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. after 25 years of service. The accomplishment he was most proud of was introducing station automation to the gasoline stations, which allowed patrons to pay at the pump and not have to go into the store, which at that time was not available. He then worked in Tulsa for a number of years as a consultant and national account manager. Doyn also was a member of The Lighthouse Quartet, which included Robert Hamm, Joe Bushong and Dave Burns. Doyn enjoyed singing bass with his friends for many years. He had wonderful memories of those times with his friends and traveling with their wives to many different places to sing gospel music and spread the message of the hope of Jesus that those songs brought. Doyn was always up for a good laugh and a funny memory he liked to recall was his fellow quartet member Dave Burns that sang high tenor would introduce him during their performances as ‘the little round mound of low-down sound’, to which he would reply, ‘well, thank you sister Dave’! After retirement Doyn and Velma traveled and had lots of good times with family and friends which always included sibling get togethers, family reunions and annual High School reunions. He always spoke proudly of being from a small town in Ozark County, South Missouri. Doyn took excellent care of Velma, his wife of 59 years, until she went ahead to Heaven 6 years ago. After he lost Velma, Doyn was able to fill his time by meeting with the senior group at church, friends from work and his family for lunches and dinners. In the last year, Doyn moved to Owasso to be closer to family but was sad to leave behind all his church family at the Adams Blvd and the Dewey Church of Christ, whom they had shared life with and served with for so many years.

Doyn was very proud of all his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed any time he was able to spend with them. His strength of character, his love of his family and friends and his ability to tell a funny story or joke will all be missed.

He is survived by his three children, daughter Teresa Brinkmeyer and her husband Mike of Tulsa, son, David Mallow and his wife Katie of Tonkawa, OK and daughter Jennifer McElroy of Collinsville, OK. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Dr Bryce Murray and wife Dr Sunshine Murray, Dr Brandon Murray and wife Dr Naomi Murray all of Tulsa, OK, Brittany Cox and her husband Dr.Trevor Cox of Edmond, OK, Dr Brett Murray and wife Bethany of Owasso, OK, Kyle Brinkmeyer of Tulsa, OK, Cameron Brinkmeyer of Tulsa, OK, Layne Mallow of Edmond, OK, Kimbree Malone of Tonkawa, OK, Amber Mendez and husband Zach, Mariah Mashburn and Zane McElroy all of Collinsville, OK. Also surviving are 20 great grandchildren and many in-laws and special nieces and nephews and their families, along with many special friends.

Doyn was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Velma, a sister Launa Raye Mallow, and sister Norma Mallow Smith and brother-in-law Ray Smith and many special in-laws that were like family.
