Betty Jean Giese, 73, of Coffeyville, KS, died Tuesday in Coffeyville.

Betty was born on April 28, 1945, in Nowata, OK, the daughter of Loren and Joan (Duvall) Coffey. She was raised in the Nowata and Coffeyville area. She was a homemaker prior to opening her hair salon, Betty’s Hair Care in Coffeyville, in 1983.

Betty had many passions in life which included fishing, camping, dancing and country music. She was gifted with creativity and she loved to sew and draw. Her family agrees that she was an amazing cook who knew what each one enjoyed and always prepared special dishes when they visited. Betty always had a Pepsi nearby and she enjoyed bingo and going to the casino. She will be dearly missed by her large extended family and friends.

Betty is survived by her mother Joan Coffey of Joplin, MO; three children, Mike Nafus and Sharon of Joplin, Sherry Green of Bixby, and Renee Ryan of Owasso; two brothers, Curt Morrison and John Morrison; three sisters, Patricia Tate, Anna Allen and Debbie Sjolander; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and her caretaker and dear friend, Brenda Iriah.

She is preceded in death by her father Loren Coffey and one brother Wayne Coffey.

Betty’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Thursday, February 21, from 5-7 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Thursday from 12-8 and Friday 9-11.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, February 22, at the Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel.
