Nowata Memorial Cemetery

Nowata County, Oklahoma
Partial Survey

Submitted by: Jo Crabtree & Area Coordinators
Location:  South on Pine ST. to Galer; West one block; South 1/4 mile to Cemetery. Nowata, OK

This cemetery was canvassed by Jeannie Inman and Elsie Berg submitted for online use by Jo Crabtree with their permission.
Although the City of Nowata has erected a sign, "Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery", there are actually 8 cemeteries combined which look like one large cemetery. They are listed as follows: Armstrong-Journeycake, Bratcher, Family, Galloway, Mehlin, Memorial Park, Nowata and in addition there is 1 "Old Indian" Cemetery with 1 burial of an unknown child. Four of the above cemeteries are what are commonly referred to as the "relocated" cemeteries which were moved to Nowata when the construction of the Oolagah Reservoir made it necessary to relocate the cemeteries. Their original location was west of Alluwe. The relocated Cemeteries are: Armstrong-Journeycake, Bratcher, Galloway, and Mehlin.
This is a compilation of City, County records and our records. We do not wish to imply that all information listed is accurate or exact. Incorrect spellings were recorded as written.
