Jesse Martin Ford was born on Dec. 17, 1930 at Newkirk, Ok. The family moved to Nowata County Aug. 1939. He died Sunday Jun. 18, 2017 in the Coffeyville Windsor Place Care Center.

He was raised in the Elm Bend community. Schools attended 1937 – 1939 Newkirk, 1939 – 1941 District 55, 1941 – 1944 Elm Bend, 1944 – 1948 Nowata, graduating from Nowata High School in 1948. Attended Miami College (NEO). He married Erma Jean Epperson on Jan. 13, 1951 at Nowata Christian Church. Worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retired at the age of 55 with 35 years of service. He worked as a lineman, repairman and switchman which he liked the best. While at work he enjoyed eating sardines in the can, vienna sauages and bama pies. He was a member of the Coffeyville Catholic church.
Hobbies included rock hound(cutting and polishing semi precious stones), archery, fishing, hunting, reloading, bench rest shooting, photography, metal detectors, bicycles(riding and repair), model trains, gardening, roses, antique clocks, kites, cowboy shoots (Elm Bend Slim) Sass No. 9733.

He is preceded in death by wife Erma Jean, parents Julian and Marie Ford, brother Jay Ford and great grandchild Levi Martin Chadwell.

He is survived by one son, Don Ford and Wife Cheryl of Nowata; two daughters, Phyllis E. Drake and husband Monty of Nowata and Rena Leera and husband Dave of Delaware; eight grandchildren Jeremy Drake and wife Desery of Nowata, Jacob Drake and wife Tammy of Bartlesville, Lindsey Sanders and husband Dewayne of Broken Arrow, Lacey Carroll and husband Lynn of Bartlesville, Kristopher Whalen of Delaware, Seth Whalen of Bartlesville, Natasha Chadwell and husband Jay of Adair and Victoria Whalen of Delaware; and five great-grandchildren Shiloh and Caleb Drake, Jade and Peyton Drake and Jaylyn Chadwell. Two cousins Artie Wayne Birdsong and wife Donna and Vern Birdsong and wife Velda.
