Mary Ellen (Clayton) Embree

Services for Mary Ellen Embree, 93, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Mickey Keith will officiate.

Burial will follow at Hickory Cemetery near Roff.
 
Mrs. Embree passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 in Shawnee. She was born July 21, 1923 in the Sunshine Community, near Roff to L. R. and Vera Inez Moore Clayton. She attended Hickory schools. She married Harvey Woodrow Embree December 12, 1951 at Gainesville, TX.
 
He preceded her in death March 3, 1993. Mrs. Embree was a homemaker, an alterations lady at Kay’s Fashions and also ran the gift shop at J. D.’s Cafeteria from 1993 – 2013. Survivors include a son, Rick Embree and wife Lynn of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Mary Ann Ryan and husband Darrell of Shawnee; step-daughter, Vera Driver and husband Conda of Ada; her four grandchildren, Chad and Kate Waters of Okarche, David Embree of Charlotte, NC, Blake and Jeanna Embree of Charlotte, NC and Charity and Billy J. Sanders of Shawnee; her three great-grandchildren, Alicia Waters of Okarche, Dylan Wood of Shawnee and D. W. Sanders of Shawnee. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Jerry Wayne Ruth; a daughter, Janice Maxey; and a great-grandson, Tyler Rhyan Wood. Bearers will be Larry Harris, Leslie Henderson, James Henderson, David Haney, Rick Embree and Darrell Ryan. The family says those who wish may make memorials in honor of Mary Ellen to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 N. E. 13th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104-9930.
