Bonnie Joe Woodrow age 91 of Purcell passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Brookhaven Extended Care in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born September 21, 1924 in Purcell, Oklahoma. She was the second of five Children born to Joseph Bernard Cunningham and Bessie Lee (Allison) Cunningham. Bonnie grew up in Purcell. She and her family were active members of the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church Parish. She attended Purcell Schools and graduated from Purcell High School in 1943. Bonnie later graduated from St. Anthony School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1947. Bonnie met a young sailor, Jack Woodrow. The couple married after World War II, April 5, 1947. They eloped with her sister Elizabeth Cunningham and Glynn Norvell to Gainesville, Texas. The couple started Woodrow Construction Company in the 1950’s. They worked together over 30 years. Following graduation form nursing school, Bonnie worked in the Purcell Clinic with Dr. Bill McCurdy until she left work to start a family. Bonnie returned to nursing in 1981 to work as a nurse with the State of Oklahoma Department of Corrections until her retirement in 1989. The center of Bonnie’s life was being a wife and mother. She was an accomplished cook and seamstress. Bonnie attended all of her five children’s activities, served as home room mother, Cub Scout leader and Girl Scout leader. She was Purcell’s Mother of the Year in 1969. Bonnie took the time to obtain her real estate licenses and was a real estate broker. She was preceded in death by: Parents, Husband, Jack Woodrow in 2011, Son, Stanley Michael Woodrow, Sisters, Elizabeth Ellen Norvell, Pan Kathryn Rockwell, Brothers, Joe Al Cunningham and William Albert “Babe” Cunningham.

She is survived by: Four sons, Marty Woodrow and wife Tijuana of Noble, Hal Woodrow and wife Ana of Princeton, NJ, Drew Woodrow and wife Jessica of Noble, Mel Woodrow of Edmond, One daughters, Suzanne Snell and husband Robert of Maysville, Three sisters-in-law, June Lyons, Peggy Cunningham and Angelyn Cunningham; 10 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A Rosary Service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. A Funeral Mass Service will be held, Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Purcell. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
