BRADEN CHANCE NEWTON

The funeral for Braden Chance Newton, 23, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cimarron Public Schools gymnasium, Lahoma. Manuel Beckner and Jason Beckner will officiate. Burial will be in Cleo Springs Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena.

He was born July 9, 1984, in Cleo Springs to Carl and Celeesa Beckner Newton and died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He grew up in the Ames area, graduating from Cimarron High School in 2002, and attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University-Enid. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in September 2003, serving in Iraq. He later trained for mountain warfare and began a tour of duty in the Kunar province of Afghanistan. He was honorably discharged in September 2007.

Surviving are his wife, Sarah; 4-month-old daughter, Madalynn; his mother, Celeesa Newton of Enid; his father, Carl Newton and stepmother, Pam, of Cleo Springs; one sister, Catessa Tomlinson of Edmond; brothers, O’Ryan Newton of Yukon, Kristan Newton of Ames and Chadrick Newton of Oklahoma City; stepsister, Jona Eastman of Jenks; stepbrother, Justin Nightengale of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; and grandmother, Jennie Newton of Cleo Springs.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home in Braden’s memory for a college fund for his daughter, Ames Volunteer Fire Department or Jaynes Kennedy American Legion Post of Ames.
