Cora Marie Mayo
May 25, 1936 - December 26, 2023

Cora Marie Mayo was born on May 25, 1936 to William Henry Pinegar and Cora Leota (Carpenter) Pinegar at Hunter, Oklahoma and passed away on December 26, 2023 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Marie received her education in Lamont and was baptized at the age of 14. She began working for Quality Chevrolet in Wichita, Kansas in 1956 and continued to work there until she joined the US Army in 1962 where she served her country for 4 years. She moved back "home' to Tonkawa in 1967 where she was united with Don Hoover. Marie later began her career at Conoco in Ponca City in 1972 where she worked until she retired in 1988.

Marie became involved with the Tonkawa Basketball Boosters where she took charge of the concession stand which earned her the name Grandma Bob, which she was still affectionately called until the time of her death. She was a member of the Patriot Guard, and a lifetime member of Chapter 750 Vietnam Veterans of Ponca City where she served as secretary of the Chapter. She went on to become State Council Secretary and President. She received many service awards to include Region 7 Veteran of the Year and Female Veteran of the Year for the State of Oklahoma.

She loved to travel, visiting 42 of the 50 states. Marie enjoyed gardening, following her grandkids activities and Bingo. She was anticipating the birth of Cindy and Bryce's baby who will arrive in June. Marie was happy to reconnect and build a relationship with her grandson Abram Hoover and his family: Amber, Andrew, Ashlyn, and Asa. She doted on her grandchildren Colby and Cindy along with special granddaughter Ruby Nicole. Whatever their wants were, Grandma made sure to take care of it.

After losing her home to fire in July of 2015, she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law, Divina and Steve where she resided until her death.

Marie is survived by her daughter Divina and husband Steve McCormack, grandson Colby and wife Katie Love, granddaughter Cindy Love and fiance Bryce Williamson, special great-granddaughter Ruby along with Abram Hoover and family, two special friends Billie Whitehead and Sharon Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Maurita, her brothers Earl and Jess, and two husbands, Don Hoover and Ralph Mayo. As well as her special friend Peggy Ingmire.

Visitation for Marie will take place on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at Grace Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Grace Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Tonkawa I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
