Rosemound Cemetery


ENID - The graveside service for Daniel Antone Myers, 91, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Medford, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010, in Rosemound Cemetery, Medford, with military honors conducted by the Navy. The Rev. Gary Lillie will officiate. Arrangements are by Hills-Ely Funeral Home, Medford. He was born April 26, 1919, in Jefferson to James Curtis and Mary Iona Huber Myers and died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Mercy Health Center, Oklahoma City.

He attended school in Jefferson and a one-room schoolhouse in Hawley.

He married Wilma Amanda Waldie Oct. 27, 1940. They lived in Medford for 38 years. She died March 25, 1978.

He later married Lucille Claffin March 6, 1982. They made their home on a farm near Wakita before moving to Enid.

He served in the Navy in Guam during World War II and was honorably discharged. In 1948, he acquired part ownership in the Champlin Gas Station in Medford. In the early 1960s he started a plumbing business. He later worked as a custodian at the Grant County Court House, retiring after 12 years. He was a member of Hawley Baptist Church, where he served as deacon.

Surviving are his wife, Lucille, of Anthony, Kan.; four children, Eric Myers of Ocala, Fla., Sonja Bradley of Edmond, Randy Myers of Los Angeles, and Gale Holmes of Edmond; one sister, June Williams of Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; one brother, David Myers of Wakita; and five grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, Wilma, he was preceded in death by four brothers, five sisters and one infant grandson.
