ENID — Velma Elizabeth (Combs) McArdle was born April 22, 1917, in Jefferson, Okla., to Ed and Lottie Combs. She passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, in Enid, Okla.

Velma grew up on a farm near Jefferson and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1933.

She married Ray McArdle Dec. 19, 1934, in Hutchinson, Kan. They farmed for many years east of Medford until they moved into Medford in 1984. They were married for 70 years.

She was an active member of First Christian Church for 60 years; she also was a member of the Medford Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; parents, Ed and Lottie Combs; four sisters, Lottie Allen, Edna Golden, Lovell Taylor and Geneva Dunkleberger; and son-in-law, Clarence Durheim.

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Durheim of Enid and Vickie Blubaugh of Lewisville, Texas; four grandchildren, Charla Good and husband Martin of Enid, Chris Hills and Lisa Leachman of Enid, Kerri Robinson and husband Rusty of McKinney, Texas, and Mark Blubaugh and wife Misty of Allen, Texas; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to First Christian Church, Miriman Circle or Ross Hospice through the funeral home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. today, Oct. 5, 2011, at First Christian Church, Medford. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery following the service with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc. (www.lan manmemorials.com)
