The funeral for Billy P. Baker, 71, of Pond Creek, will be 10:30 a.m. today at First Christian Church, Pond Creek. The Rev. Ronnie Hopkins will officiate. Burial will be in Pond Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.
He was born Jan. 17, 1936, in Beattyville, Ky., to John David and Georgia Lee Abshire Baker and died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.
He grew up and attended school in Beattyville. He traveled around the country working for Land Coast in Louisiana. He later sold mobile homes, then owned Baker’s Fina Station in Arkansas City, Kan.
He married Louise Gibson July 20, 1978, in Ponca City. They made their home in Pond Creek. He worked for Grant County District 3 as a bridge foreman, retiring after 17 years.
Surviving are his wife, Louise, of the home in Pond Creek; one son, Chris Baker of Pond Creek; three sisters, Irene Mays of Fairfield, Ohio, Linda Ballinger of Georgetown, Ky., and Florene Crisp of East Bernstadt, Ky.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home, Box 478, Pond Creek, OK 73766, to Pond Creek Firemen and Ambulance Association or Pond Creek Cemetery Association.
