November 17, 1938 - November 10, 2019

Funeral services for Shirley Marlene George, 80, Wakita resident, will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 2:30 pm in Vining Church with Pastor Kevin George officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Hawley Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Stittsworth Funeral Service, Medford.Visitation will be Thursday, November 14th at the Stittsworth Funeral Service in Medford, Oklahoma from 11:00 A.M.- 7:00 P.M.

Shirley was born on November 17, 1938 in Cherokee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Alford and Norma Marsh, and passed away suddenly on November 10, 2019 at her residence.Shirley Marlene Marsh was born on November 17, 1938 to Alford and Norma Marsh. After graduating from Cherokee High School in 1956 she worked as a telephone operator in Cherokee, Oklahoma where she met the love of her life, Ercil George. Ercil and Shirley were married in July of 1958 in Cherokee, Oklahoma. Their three sons Kevin, Kelly, and Kris were born in Cherokee. Shirley raised her sons and helped Ercil in the pharmacy throughout their childhood in Davis and Ardmore. They moved to Wakita in 1968 after the Community Health Center and Pharmacy was established. After purchasing their farm 5 miles south of Wakita, Shirley worked hand in hand with her husband, Ercil, in the pharmacy and on the farm. The farm has continued to be their home throughout the years.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Ercil George; sister, Sharon LaRue; sons, Kevin George and wife, Joy; Kelly George and wife, Debbie; Kris George and wife, Sandy; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Alford and Norma; brother, Jerry; brother-in-law, Jim LaRue; and brother-in-law, Clinton Hays.

Memorials can be made to the Vining Community Church or the Wakita United Methodist Church and may be left with the Stittsworth Funeral Service 117 E. Cherokee Medford, Oklahoma 73759.
