Bayard Cemetery


Doris L. Wilder formerly of Deer Creek, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully November 15, 2008, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 97 years.

Doris L. Wilder was born July 31, 1911, in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, to Ola and Roy Martin. She grew up in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, graduating from Deer Creek Public School. She then furthered her education at the University of Oklahoma where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics. She married Leonard L. “Barney” Wilder in 1932 and they made their home in Deer Creek where they raised two daughters. She was very active in her community and also served as a substitute teacher. Doris lived in the Deer Creek community for most of her life, moving to Tucson with her husband in 1995. Her love of crossword puzzles was second only to her tremendous love for her family. Her gentle spirit and sweet smile will be dearly missed and never forgotten by all who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard; sisters; Fern Wilson, and Dee Squires; one grandson; Todd Corbin; and one brother in law, Wayne Wilson.

She is survived by two daughters, Marty Fae Kidder and husband John of Tucson, Arizona, and Emalee Shaull and companion Bill Link of Green Valley, Arizona; one brother-in-law, Robert Squires; four granddaughters; and 1 great-grandchild.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 21st in the Bayard Cemetery in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, with the Rev. Matt Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Bayard Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
