Bayard Cemetery


The funeral for Lucille Scrimsher, 87, of Deer Creek will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Dugger Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tuney Ropp will officiate. Burial will be in Bayard Cemetery, Deer Creek. Arrangements are by Dugger Funeral Home, Blackwell.

She was born Dec. 30, 1918, at Briartown to John William and Millie Pitts Madewell and died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, at Blackwell Regional Hospital.

At age four she learned to help her father, who was a share cropper. In later years she was a cook.

Surviving are four daughters Sarah Lindsey, Faye Elliott, Barbara Shafer and Mary Buxton; one son, Steve Scrimsher; one brother, Hershel Madewell; one sister, Opal Garland; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel, two sisters, four grandsons, one great-grandson and twin great-granddaughters.
