December 21, 1929 - December 15, 2020

Dorene Mae Regier passed from this life December 15th, 2020.

Dorene was born in Deer Creek, Oklahoma to Elmer and Leona Lichti on December 21, 1929. She grew up on a farm north west of Deer Creek and was a member of the Deer Creek Mennonite Church. After graduating from Deer Creek High School in 1947, she went on to Bethel College in Newton Kansas. She then received her nurse’s training from The Bethel Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1952. She married the love of her life, Harry Regier on March 7, 1954 in Deer Creek, Oklahoma. They lived in Newton, Kansas where she worked at Prairie View Hospital before moving to Nebraska where they farmed. In 1960, after her parents retired, they returned to Deer Creek where they farmed and raised three boys, Mark, Paul, and Gary. She enjoyed her life on the farm and following all of her boys’ activities. She continued her nursing career at the Blackwell Hospital as a surgical nurse, OU Rural Medical Center in Wakita, Ponca City Hospital and as a school nurse at Medford and Blackwell Schools. She also served on the Grant County Health Board. In 1978, her husband passed away. She later moved back to Newton, Kansas in 1987 and worked at Prairie View Hospital where she had met her husband and began her nursing career.

After retiring, Dorene was involved in prison ministry and enjoyed holding Bible studies in her home, reading, and playing her piano keyboard. She enjoyed visiting her children and grandchildren and keeping up with their activities. In 2013, she moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Dorene is preceded in death by her parents; son Mark Regier; and brothers Raymond and Clarence Lichti.

Dorene is survived by Daughter-in-law, Patricia Regier of Newton, KS; grandchildren Nick and wife Shannon of Lakeville, MN; Kevin and wife Diana of Buena Vista, CO; Jennifer Snyder of Manhattan, KS; Son, Paul Regier and wife Barbara of Deer Creek, OK; grandchildren Craig and wife Sierra of Deer Creek, OK; Colton and wife Jordi of Nowata, OK; Son, Gary and wife Lori of Lawrence, KS; grandchildren Bryce and wife Christina of Olathe, KS; Kelsi Regier of Independence, MO; Colby and wife Amy of Gambrills, MD; and Alayna Regier of Pittsburg, KS. Great Grandchildren: Harrison, Hope, Hayden, Gibson, Karis, Camri, Kendall, Easton, Finn, Briley, Jenevieve, Lucy, and Avelyn. Also surviving numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Church of your choice or The Cancer Research Institute.

A private family graveside service will be held on Friday, December 18th, 2020 at the Deer Creek Bayard Cemetery.
