Marvin Eugene “Gene” Buxton

May 4, 1925 ~ September 1, 2022 (age 97)

Marvin Eugene “Gene” Buxton was born May 4, 1925 to Millard and Olive Buxton at Rosston, Oklahoma and passed on September 1, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma.

Gene grew up in the Rosston and Deer Creek areas. He received his high school diploma from Buffalo High School after serving in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific. On May 3, 1949 he married Eleanor Shaffer.

Gene was a lifelong farmer in the Deer Creek area. He was also a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, attending the Medford Church of Christ the past several years.

Gene is survived by his wife, Eleanor Buxton of Deer Creek; his son, Forrest Buxton and wife, Delores of Edmond; his daughters, Ramona Buxton of Enid; Charlene Brensing and husband, Richard of Mullinville, Kansas, and JoAnn Buxton of Enid; his sister-in-law, Bonnie Buxton Gingerish of Newton, Kansas; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Olive Buxton; two brothers, Herschel and Norman, and two sons, Jerome and Jimmy.

Graveside service honoring the life of Gene Buxton will be Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Bayard Cemetery near Deer Creek. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Medford. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Tuesday morning 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. www.lanmanmemorials.com Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.

Memorials may be made in Gene’s name to Deer Creek Fire Department through the funeral home.
