Sallie [Bench] Dixon

Woman 110 Years Old Died On Thursday

Last Thursday afternoon, Grandma Dixon, 110 years old, died at the home of her son [sic, grandson], Jesse Dixon, eight miles north of town.

She was buried at Naples Saturday.

She came here when she was seven years old from Mississippi, with her tribe, which were Choctaw Indians, and has lived here ever since.

She is survived by five children."
She's on the 1900 census, in the Jessie "Dickson" household, listed as "Sallie Bench, grandmother and the 1910 census, in the Jesse "Dixon" household, listed as "Sallie Bench, boarder". Both of these census show her as Indian and the 1900 shows her as Choctaw. Both show her born in Mississippi. Ancestry trees show her maiden name as "Sallie Bench" but none show her husband's name. They show her as the mother of Silas Dixon and that Silas Dixon was the father of Jessie Dixon.
