Shortly after his birth the family moved to Galveston TX where he lived until he was fifteen, moving back to OKC after his father’s death.

He was transferred to Douglas High School where he was instrumental in integrating OKC Public Schools. He returned to Capitol Hill and later retired in 1995. He also was an Adjunct teacher at Southeast High School.

During his teaching years, he was active in the American Federation of Teachers, holding many offices, including President. He also held offices in many social and political organizations. Such as: American's United, Inter-Faith Alliance and Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. He was also the Democratic Representative to the Oklahoma County Election Board before retiring this January.

He was preceded in death by his Huff and Hansen Grandparents, his father James Ranly Huff, his mother Wilma Hansen and his younger brother Ronald Neil.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Huff; their daughter Tracy Groves and their son, James Ranly (Jimmy) Huff and wife Deanna. He was especially proud of his grandchildren: Marleigh Brown and husband Jordan, Lily Huff, Ellie Huff, and Ranly Huff. He loved watching them cheer and play sports.
