Larry Wayne Helf , 62, passed away Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004 in OKC. Larry was born on September 29, 1942 in Perkins, OK. Larry was born to Hazel Bounds and adopted by Marvin Helf.

Larry met his "Sweet" Wanda Jean Smith O''Brien in 1976 and they were wed on March 7, 1992 in OKC. He was a veteran of the Navy during the Vietnam War. While serving his country, he was an airplane mechanic and a merchant marine. He worked as a nurse and finished out his career at St. Anthony's Psychiatric unit.

He loved to play his guitar and sing for entertainment of his family and friends. He wasn't the kind of person who cared about money or anything like that. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was a man concerned with the worries of the world and loved to talk politics. He loved the ocean and loved to ride motorcycles.

Larry was a man who did not catch many breaks in life but could roll with the punches with the best of men. The man could have written a book on family outings with a minimum wage budget.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Wanda; sons, Eric Helf, Larry O'Brien & Scott O'Brien, all of OKC; stepchildren, Cindy, Tracy, Donna and Diane; granddaughters, Taylor, Breanna, Taryn & Kiara; grandsons, Hunter & Ryder.

He will be missed greatly by those who loved and cherished his time on this earth. Services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, 2PM at South Colonial Chapel.
