Robert George Carroll, known to friends as "Bob" Carroll, peacefully went home on October 8th, 2003, at the age of 91.

Bob's earliest years of memory were lived in a sod house on the dry prairies of South Dakota near the small town of Cole where his parents Augustus George (Gus) and Margaret (Nellie) Carroll were homesteading although he was born in his mother's home town of Shawnee, Oklahoma, to which she had returned to give birth. He was born on November 18, 1911.

Bob was a graduate of Capitol Hill High School and Black's Business College, marrying Opal Lorene Hopkins in 1935.

For many decades he was a public accountant in Capitol Hill of Oklahoma City, in a career that began with the Indian Territory Independent Oil Co. (l.T.I.O.), of Oklahoma City, spanned several decades in private practice in Capitol Hill, included a partnership in the insurance agency of Fisher, Snipes, Carroll, and DuBoise, and CFO and Personnel Officer of Jamco Manufacturing of Oklahoma City. In retirement, he gave valuable assistance to his son in the creation and development of his insurance business.

Bob was extremely active in Draper Park and Capitol Hill Christian Churches, the Capitol Hill Lions Club, and was a founder of the Capitol Hill YMCA.

Bob and Lorene eventually moved to the Oklahoma Christian Retirement Community in Edmond in 1996.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lorene, whom he loved devotedly, and also by his elder brother Ray Augustus Carroll.

He is survived by his daughter Margaret Hamrick and her husband David of Houston, and by his son Robert George Carroll, II, and his wife Jean of Edmond. Bob and Lorene had eight grandchildren: Alan Hamrick of Houston, Eric Hamrick of Anaheim, California; Blaine Hamrick of Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Kyle Hamrick of Houston, and Stacy Logan of Oklahoma City; and Brian Robert Carroll of Oklahoma City, Jeff Crane of Stillwater, and Brian Crane of Waco, Texas - and from these grandchildren and their wives and husband, Bob and Lorene boasted proudly of their 15 great-grandchildren.

The service will be at First Presbyterian Church of Edmond on Fri-day, October 10th, at 2:00 p.m., with interment following at Resthaven Memory Garden in South Oklahoma City under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home.
