Pattye Box

Pattye Box, 76, was welcomed in loving arms of her Lord & Savior on January 1, 2009. She was born March 18, 1932 in Durant, OK to L.M. & Hazel Norwood.

On Dec. 19, 1952, Pattye married the love of her life, Paul Box, and together they shared more than 56 years of a wonderful marriage. After graduating from East Central State College in Ada, OK, Pattye used her education degree to teach and inspire students' lives in California and in the Moore, OK Public Schools.

Pattye and Paul served as Missionaries to Singapore, Malaysia and Germany. Pattye was always involved with Paul's several Pastorates, including First Baptist Church of Moore, Oklahoma. Her greatest desire was to see people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to walk in a strong relationship with Him.

Preceded in death by her parents & 4 yr. old brother, Lem Royce Norwood.

She leaves cherished memories with her husband, Rev. Paul Box of the home; daughters, Paulia Merrell & husband, James of Missouri; Pam Bowen & husband, Lex of Georgia; and son, Phil Box & wife, Melody of Texas; and one Sister, Barbara Cole & her husband, Charles of Shreveport, LA; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. Pattye was a remarkable woman in many ways, and she fulfilled God's purpose here on earth with joy, gladness and perseverance. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

Viewing hours from 4-8 PM each evening, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, c/o First Baptist Church of Moore, 301 NE 27th St., Moore, OK 73160.

Services to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 4, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Moore.
