Joe Moses, the son of Martha Coon, was born April 29, 1947, in the Rocky Mountain Community of Adair County, Oklahoma. He passed from this life on September 16, 2015, at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 68.

Joe attended Cave Springs School and later received his GED. He then served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War awarded a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnamese Service Medal, a Vietnamese Campaign Medal and a Purple Heart. After one tour of duty and completing his military service he was honorably discharged. In 1970, Joe moved to Tulsa and began taking classes at Tulsa Community College.

On September 2, 1983, Joe married his best friend Michelle Woodrome in Roland, Oklahoma and made their home in Tulsa. Joe enjoyed playing his guitar, working out and loved watching football and boxing. His favorite teams were the Oakland Raiders and the OSU Cowboys.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Lincoln and Martha (Coon) Scott; brothers, Charley Scott, Huckleberry Scott, French Scott and sisters, Mary Layton and Polly Nofire.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving family which includes, his wife, Michelle Moses, of the home; children, Joseph Junior Leach and wife, Angela, of Tahlequah, Rebecca Moses and Kimberly Moses, of Tulsa; siblings, Victor Moses and wife, Carole, of Talihina, Pamela Wungnema, of Carson City, NV, Bobbie Gail Smith and husband, Chad, of Tahlequah, Wynema Bush and husband, David, of Tahlequah, Michael Scott, of Watts, David Scott and wife, Elizabeth (Sam), of Rocky Mountain and Nancy Scott, of Tahlequah; grandchildren, Mikko Joseph Lee Leach, William Joseph Leach and Erin Jo Leach, of Tahlequah; great grandson, Major Mark Joseph Leach and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2015, at Hart Memorial Chapel in Stilwell with Rev. Dale Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Echota Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
