Shirley Jean Martin daughter of Glen Norwood "Pete" and Mary Fern (Coombes) Swepston was born June 14, 1940 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and departed this life September 15, 2017 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas at the age of 77 years.

Shirley worked at Levi's in Fayetteville, Ark. for 14 years, after leaving Levi's she started a daycare for children and ran one until she retired. Shirley loved and enjoyed all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family gatherings were special to her and she loved cooking for everyone and having family around. If you asked her for the recipe for something she would gladly give you the ingredients but no measurements. That wasn't the way she cooked anything.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Glen Norwood "Pete" and Mary Fern (Coombes) Swepston, two sisters, Sally Johnson and Betty Martin.

She is survived by a very loving family that includes her husband of 59 years, J.C. Martin of the home, five children, Pam Amos and husband Frank of Colcord, Patty Fields and husband Rex of Elkins, Ark., Rita Bailey and husband Edward of Westville, David Martin and wife Tracie of Destin, Fla., Jerry Martin and wife Kelly of Westville, two brothers, Oscar (Butch) Swepston, Sherman Swepston and wife Margie all of Stilwell, one sister; Patricia (Gail) Johnson and husband David of Park Hill, Grandchildren; Kimberly Bradshaw and husband Erik, Cassie Motter, Scott Motter, Miranda Gauthier and husband Shawn, Kriste Fields Koeppe and husband Jason, Jereme Bailey and wife Kristina, William Bailey and Latasha Gardenhire, Sarah Kincheloe and husband Rob, Tiffany Vasek and husband Michael, Alexis Martin, Amanda Martin, Chase Martin and wife Jacklyn, 22 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive her.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Roberts & Hart Chapel, Westville, Oklahoma with Brother Matthew Wilson officiating. Interment followed at Old Baptist Mission Cemetery, Westville, Oklahoma.
