Byron "Gary" Garrison Hartshorne was born in Siloam Springs, Arkansas on January 4, 1947 to Byron and Kathleen (Chance) Hartshorne and passed away December 29, 2017 in Westville, Oklahoma at the 70 years of age.

He was retired and spent his time with his aunts Wilma Williams and Josie Scism, who were his second mothers.

Byron will always be known as a master storyteller. He was friendly and out-going. He was never in too big of a hurry to stop and say hello.

He loved hunting and fishing, which supplied Byron with plenty of stories to tell. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica.

Byron is preceded in death by his father, Byron Alfred Hartshorne and his mother Kathleen Irene (Chance) Hartshorne.

He is survived by two brothers, Randy Hartshorne Sr. of Chewey, Charles Hartshorne and wife Brenda of Chewey, one sister, Kathy Hunt of Tulsa, two aunts, Wilma Williams and Josie Scism both of Westville, one uncle, Frank Hartshorne and wife Sylvia of Salem, Indiana, one stepdaughter Nita Kirk of Tahlequah and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 5, 2018 at Roberts & Hart Chapel, Westville, with Bro. Navil Vaughn and Joe Hartshorne officiating. Interment followed at Old Baptist Mission Cemetery, Westville.
