Cecil Leroy White

June 14, 1932 ~ January 3, 2020

Cecil Leroy White age 87, passed quietly surrounded by his children and grandchildren in Norman Oklahoma on January 3, 2020. He was born June 14, 1932 to Hazel Ruby (née Yates) and Stanford Hugh White in Sharon, Oklahoma in the aftermath of the Dust Bowl, in the midst of the Great Depression.

After many years in the Oklahoma City area during his childhood, Cecil first worked in the oil field and construction industries following in his father’s footsteps. Soon after he developed a passion for horse racing and combined this with his love of travel and adventure. Cecil was quick with a smile and a joke and loved to spend his free time playing cards and dominoes. Family will remember him as a loving, strong and independent man who lived a full life on his own terms. Cecil is survived by several children, many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. He was a caring father, grandfather, and a friend to so many.

Cecil will be laid to rest in North Persimmon Cemetery in Woodward County reunited with his mother and father in peace.

A beloved son, a child of the Dust Bowl, a loyal brother and friend, a cowboy, an adventurer, an adored father and a devoted grandfather…he will be missed.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, January 9, 2020, in the Chapel of Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
