Roberta Mae Wise Obituary

January 22, 1937 ~ September 10, 2019

Roberta Wise, age 82, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2019 in Woodward, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2019 at the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Nathan Twyman officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery, where the ashes of her husband, Francis, will also be interred. Arrangement were made under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.

Roberta Mae (Reneau) Wise was the third born child to Russel and Mary (Cook) Reneau in Oakwood, Oklahoma. The family lived around Oakwood until Roberta's senior year when the family moved and she graduated as valedictorian from Lambert High School in 1955. She then moved to Woodward to work at the Quality Potato Chip Co. She met and married Francis Wise on March 25, 1956 in Mooreland, OK and they made their home in Woodward.

The couple was blessed by three sons, Richard, Randall and Jon. These boys kept her busy with their many adventures and mishaps. Because she was the only gal in a household of guys, she had the opportunity to watch countless Western and military movies. She enjoyed camping and fishing each year at American Horse Lake where she cut up chicken and fried it over the campfire. She was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and loved Thunder basketball. She was employed at Trego's Westwear, Fruit of the Loom factory, Gibsons and Homeland Grocery.

In December of 2015 Francis passed away and she moved in with Richard and Brenda due to her health. She enjoyed watching TV, going on drives and supervising in the gardens. She enjoyed being outside. In June 2018 she moved to Grace Living Center where everyone enjoyed her easy going nature and her ready smile. She continued gardening in the nursing home courtyard with flowers, tomatoes and peppers. She helped Brenda pull a lot of weeds!

She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Woodward and attended regularly until her health declined. Her greatest desire was that her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren would come to know Jesus as their personal Savior.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister, Evelyn Foust, an infant brother, and grandson, Sean Henson.

She is survived by her three sons, Richard and Brenda, Randy and Shirley and Jon Wise, grandchildren, Brion Wise, Cheryl Bennett, Scott and Amy Wise, Jordan Wise and great grandchildren Gabriel Wise, Anna Wise, Cameron VanLandingham, Zoie and Bryson Rea, C.J. Bennett and a special nephew, Ernie Wise, plus a host of other family and friends.

Francie Eugene Wise Obituary

August 27, 1929 ~ December 12, 2015

Francis Eugene Wise passed away on December 12, 2015.

He was born on August 27, 1929 to Ira Ottis and Edna Hazel (Morrison) Wise at Tryon, Oklahoma. At age five, he moved with his family to Mooreland, Oklahoma where his father opened the Wise and Sons Creamery. His mother was recovering from typhoid fever and Francis used this opportunity to explore the entire community and he would show up at someone’s home at lunch or dinner uninvited. His mother finally resorted to hooking him to the clothes line to keep him home. While attending school he played many sports but especially loved to play basketball. He was also a master at roller skating. He graduated from Mooreland High School and then attended OBU for a year before enlisting in the U. S. Army. He was stationed in Baltimore, Maryland where he was trained in artillery. He was honorably discharged and returned to Woodward to help with the creamery that had now expanded to Woodward. His creamery route took him though Hinton where he would stop and play catch with a young Johnny Bench.

On March 21, 1956, he married Roberta Mae Reneau at the First Baptist Church in Mooreland and they have resided in Woodward since that time.

Three sons were born to this union, Richard, Randy and Jon. He began his electrical career with Ray Smith Electric and then with Scott Kline of Kline Mechanical where he worked until his retirement in 1991. While driving through town he would point out a multitude of homes and businesses that he had wired as an electrician. He accepted Jesus as His Savior at an early age and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Woodward. When the new Baptist Church was being built (after his retirement) he became know as the “Sidewalk Superintendent” as he was at the job site everyday just to help in any way such as running errands or locating people and services for the contractor. He read his Bible through three times while the church was being built. He was honored at the dedication for his services. In later years he enjoyed going to the coffee shop to visit friends and telling good stories.

A special nephew, Ernie Wise, made sure he had the transportation to get there. Francis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ema Jewel Wise; brother, Loren; and grandson Sean Henson Wise.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Roberta, and three sons, Richard and wife Brenda; Randy and wife Shirley; Jon and wife Goldie, all of Woodward, grandchildren, Brion, Scott and Jordan Wise, and Cheryl French and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Remembrances may be shared online at www.billingsfuneralhomewoodward.com
