EARNEST LOREN "SPEEDY" WISE

7 Jan 1924 - 4 Nov 2010

Woodward, Okla. — Earnest Loren "Speedy" Wise was born January 7, 1924 in Marrionville, Missouri to Edna Hazel and Ira Ottis Wise. He passed away November 4, 2010 at Amarillo, Texas at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 27 days.

Earnest moved with is parents to Tryon, Oklahoma and later Mooreland where he graduated from high school. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University and then entered the United States Army Air Corps and served his country during World War 2. After his discharge he lived in Mooreland and worked with his father in the Wise and Son Creamery. He was married to Velma Imojean (Smith) at Mooreland , Oklahoma on November 10, 1951. They lived in Woodward where they made their home. Earnest was an automobile mechanic and had worked for Ferguson Ford for a number of years. He moved to Amarillo, Texas in February of 2009 to be near his daughter.

Earnest and Velma were charter members of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church and he was currently attending the Southwest Baptist Church, Amarillo, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and 1 sister, Erma Jewel Wise.

Survived by his 2 Daughters, Sharon Gleaves, Amarillo, TX; Janice Smith and husband, Raymond, Oklahoma City, OK; 3 Sons, Ernie Wise, Woodward, OK; Ottis Wise and wife, Debbie, Bartlesville, OK; Mick Wise, Woodward, OK; 1 Brother, Francis Wise, Woodward, OK; 6 Granchildren, Crystal, Amber, Andy, Katy, Jessica, and Cyndie, 4 Great Grandchildren, Jimmy, Aleshia, John, and Holden, 3 Great Great Grandchildren, Marcus, Jaylee, Lily, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be Sunday from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM at the Billings Funeral Home in Woodward. Services will be held Monday, November 8, 2010 at 11:00 am at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church officiated by Jason Dirks. Burial will be at Mooreland Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Sayre, Oklahoma. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
