Earl White, 71 year old Quinlan and Mooreland area resident, died Saturday, November 15, 2014 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel of Woodward. Burial will follow in the Mooreland Cemetery with the United States Navy providing military graveside rites.

Earl Eugene White was born on June 1, 1943 in the Woodward Hospital in Woodward, Oklahoma to Earl Melvin and Lille Mae (McMahon) White. Earl was reared in the Quinlan and Mooreland area and attended grade school in Quinlan and high school in Mooreland. Earl was inducted into the United States Navy in 1960. Earl served on the USS Coral Sea which is a an Aircraft Carrier and the third ship in the Navy named in commemeration of the historic Battle of the Coral Sea fought in May of 1942. Commissioned as CVB 43, the Coral Sea was redesignated as attack aircraft carrier CVA 43 on October 1, 1952, and multi-purpose aircraft carrier CV 43 on June 30, 1975. The USS Coral Sea was decommissioned and stricken from the Navy list in 1990. Earl served with the Attack Squadron 163 as a Chief Aviation Structural Mechanic and served his country until his retirement from the United States Navy on June 1, 1990. During the early 1980's Earl worked in the oilfield for various companies.

Earl was united in marriage to Carolyn Ramey on December 28, 1984. They have made their home in Quinlan. Earl loved being on the farm and after his retirement moved back to this area. Earl loved being with his family, working the fields with on his tractor, and watching his cattle.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn White of the home; his two sons, Greg White and wife Lacey of San Diego, California, Todd White of San Diego, California; three step-daughters, Jerri White of Tulsa, Marsha Peach and husband Todd of Mooreland, Meredith Wooldridge and husband Kelly of Mooreland; one brother Greg White and wife Fran of Virginia; three sisters, Zona Roberts of Tennessee, Miriam “Muff” Hink of Texas, Melva Elliott and husband Mike of California; seven grandchildren, Jordan Peach, Landon Peach, Moriah Wooldridge, Jacoby Wooldridge, Derek White, Ashley White, Gehrig White; numerous other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin daughters, and a son.

Earl had been around the world three times, fought for his country, and will be missed by all that knew him.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
