Dorothy Marie Parker Walling

March 18, 1932 ~ July 5, 2020

Dorothy Walling, 88 year old Mooreland resident, died Sunday, July 5, 2020 in Mooreland. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the Mooreland Cemetery with Reverend Micah Welcher officiating. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Marie (Parker) Walling was born on March 18, 1932 in Wichita, Kansas to Minyard and Dorcas (Richardson) Parker. When Dorothy was young, the family moved from Wichita, Kansas to Santa Ana, California. She attended school in Santa Ana and later completed her GED. She was united in marriage to James Manuel Walling on March 27, 1948 in Yuma, Arizona. They made their first home in Santa Ana, California but lived in duty stations across the United States as James was a career Marine. After his retirement from the Marines, they moved to Mooreland, Oklahoma which is where her husband James grew up. They were blessed with two sons, James A., born in California, and Charles A., born in Florida.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Mooreland. She enjoyed helping with the Scouts, the Rebekah Lodge, gardening, genealogy, and crocheting. Dorothy served as State President for one year for the Rebekah Lodge. Her favorite times were spending time with her family and she loved being involved in her boys activities. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and there was always a family get together for birthdays and holidays.

She is survived by her two sons: James A. Walling and wife Linda, and Charles A. Walling and wife Debbie all of Mooreland; three grandchildren: Lisa Sanders and husband Todd of Woodward, Kea Conrady and husband Chris of Woodward, Zachary Walling and wife Angela of Stillwater; four great grandchildren: Jessica Sanders, Brittany Sanders, Pamela Jade Hager, and Catheryne Martin; and sisters-in-law: Joy Parker and Margaret West of Post Falls, Idaho; other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband James M. Walling, brothers, Richard Parker and Ronald Parker and grandsons, James W. (Jamie) Walling and Jacob Walling.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors or the Disabled American Veterans with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
