Donnie Earl Thomas

May 5, 1932 ~ October 14, 2019

Donnie Thomas, 87 year old Mooreland resident, died Monday October 14, 2019 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mooreland with Reverend Todd Bergman officiating. Interment will follow at Mooreland Cemetery with the United States Navy providing military graveside rites. Arrangements were made under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.

Donnie Earl Thomas was born to Albert and Lola (Spear) Thomas on May 5, 1932 on the family farm near Hammon, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of four children. In his early years the family moved to Enid, Oklahoma. Donnie went all through school in Enid and was an exceptional football player for Enid High School. There he met and eventually married Wanda Jo Woy. While Donnie was in the Navy he and Wanda lived in California up until he was shipped out to Japan. During his time in Japan their eldest daughter Tami was born. After his service time was over Donnie and Wanda moved back to Oklahoma.

Donnie worked several jobs until he was hired by Western Farmers Electric in Anadarko, Oklahoma. They lived in nearby Chickasha, Oklahoma where their second daughter Joanna was born. In 1963 he was transferred to the new Mooreland plant. Donnie worked there until his retirement. Donnie and Wanda enjoyed their retirement in south Texas and later Arizona.

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, wife Wanda of 52 years, youngest daughter Joanna, two sisters and an infant grandson.

He is survived by his oldest daughter, Tami Deever and husband Harold of Maile Point, Hawaii; two grandsons, Kedron Sittner of the home and Brady Sittner and wife Rachelle of Brush, Colorado; granddaughter, Chelsea Sutton and husband Jonathan of Irvine, California; his oldest brother, Wendell Thomas of Prague, Oklahoma; and five great grandchildren Layne Sittner, Trinity Sittner, Tatum Sittner, Quinn Sutton, and Lila May Sutton; other relatives and many friends.
