Juanita “Nita” Star, 87 year old resident of Woodward, passed from this life on Sunday, July 27, 2014 in the Grace Living Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jeremy Skaggs officiating. Burial will be in the Mooreland Cemetery.

Juanita “Nita” Starr was born on April 27, 1927 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was adopted by Virgil and Marjorie (Watkins) Oliver of May, Oklahoma. Nita grew up in the May area and graduated from May High School in 1945. She was married to Forrest “Frosty” Starr on August 8, 1947 and four children were born from this union, Tony, Tommy, Melinda and Jerry.

Nita was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter 117, Woodward, Oklahoma. Nita loved to watch NASCAR racing, football, bull riding, boxing. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing and camping with her husband, friends, and family.

She is survived by her three children, Tony Starr and wife Debra of Cookson, Oklahoma; Melinda Ellis and husband J. C. Of Woodward; Jerry Starr of Mooreland; grandchildren, Christine Ellis Cross of Madison, Mississippi; Kimberly Ellis Roberts of Concord, North Carolina; Bryan Starr Huffman of Woodward; Brandi McCallie of Moore; Tammy Ellis of Oklahoma City; Deadra Starr of Cookson; Tiffany Ellis of Woodward; Ryan Starr of Tahlequah; thirteen great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Nita was preceded in death by her husband, parents. one son, Tommy Starr and one brother, Lloyd Oliver.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Leukemia Research with the funeral accepting the donations.
