Beulah Mae Gose Shearer

Beulah Shearer, 91 year old former Mooreland resident, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 in Edmond. Private family graveside services will be held at the Mooreland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Beulah Mae (Gose) Shearer was born on July 14, 1929 in Cedardale, Oklahoma in Woodward County to Claude Lee and Emma Lee (Stinson) Gose. She grew up in Cedardale, Curtis and Mooreland and attended school in Curtis and Mooreland. She later received her GED.

Beulah was united in marriage to W.V. "Shorty" Shearer on February 3, 1946 at the First Christian Church in Mooreland, Oklahoma. Beulah joined her husband W.V. as a circus performer after their marriage. In her early days, she was a Trapeze Artist and also was a part of the Shorty Shearer's Wild West act for several circus companies. They also worked with Carson and Barnes and other shows in circus concessions for several years until their retirement. The couple toured all 50 states and throughout Canada. Beulah and W.V. owned and operated Shearer Feed and Seed in Mooreland from 1975 until 1988. They operated the Snack Shack in the late 1980's and Beulah was also a medicine aide at the Mooreland Nursing home as well as a care giver.

She enjoyed traveling and raising domestic and exotic animals, but most of all she loved being with her family.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Susan Shearer of Mooreland; grandchildren Lisa Salim and husband Rocky of Edmond, Lacey House and husband Cody of Ooltewah, Tennessee; six great-grandchildren: Emma Salim and Amelia Salim of Edmond, Amara House, Alana House, Asher House and Adalee House of Ooltewah, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Joyce Tucker of Inola; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Emma Lee Gose, her husband W.V. "Shorty" Shearer, sons, Doug Monroe Shearer, Norman Dennis Shearer, sister Lilla Claraene Gose and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the WOOF Pet Rescue with the funeral home accepting donations on behalf of the family.
