CLAYTON HOWARD LONG

13 Aug 1923 - 1 Jan 2016

Clayton Long, 86 year old Mooreland resident died Friday January 1, 2010 at his son’s home in Vernon, Texas. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday January 4, 2010 at the Mooreland Cemetery with services under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm on Monday January 4 at the Billings Funeral home in Mooreland.

Clayton Howard Long was born on August 13, 1923 one mile East of Laverne, Oklahoma at the home of his parents Raymond and Ruth Margaret (Schrader) Long. Clayton was reared in Laverne and attended the Laverne schools. Clayton was united in marriage to Patsy Hannah and they made their home in Laverne. To this union two children were born, Ray and Margaret. Clayton was a farmer most of his life and also worked for the Highway Department for the State of Oklahoma. On October 27, 1983 Clayton was united in marriage to Wilda Mae Highfill and they made their home in Mooreland.

Clayton enjoyed riding horses, fishing and just being outdoors.

He is survived by one son Ray Long and wife Linda of Vernon, TX; one daughter Margaret Long; one step-son Martin Crissup and wife Karen of Newcastle; three grandchildren, Robbie Clark and wife Shelley of Mooreland; Shawna (Long) Carter and husband Jimmy of Lebanon, Mo; Dewayne Long and wife Linnie of Woodward; nine great-grandchildren, Stetson, Austin and Lindsay Clark; Jordan and Katlyn Carter; Natasha, Marina, Serenity and Kross Long; one great-great-grandchild Promise Nichole Gonser; two sisters, Elise Hubbard and Lois Mulberry both of Laverne; and several other family members and friends.

Clayton was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one sister Barbara Wells and two brothers Roy and Eugene.
