Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, Spetermber 19, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Mooreland. Burial will follow at the Mooreland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.

Vera Lou Haskins was born to James Norman and Sylivia Irene (Bartley) Weatherman in their home on October 30th, 1938 in Longdale, Oklahoma. She grew up in Chester, Oklahoma where she and her sister aided their parents on their small farm while attending Seiling schools. While her father was building grain elevators in Enid, Oklahoma, she met Arnold Duane Haskins. They married on May 1, 1955 at Elm Grove Assembly of God Church in Chester, Oklahoma. God gave them 62 wonderful years together.

A

rnold's job took them to Dallas, Houston, Nashville, and Kansas Then upon being drafted into the US Army he was sent to Fort Hood, TX where Vera gave birth to their first son, Vance Duane in 1957. Vera faithfully supported her husband during his service in the military, even to the point of crossing the Atlantic by sea to be at his side with their young baby. They were stationed in Friedburg, Germany for two years where she tirelessly worked to care for their family. During that time, she gave birth to their daughter Penaloth Candith, born two months early and who only survived two days. Arnold and Vera returned to the United States in 1959 to settle in Wichita, Kansas, where she gave birth to their third child, Max Lane. In 1961, they settled in Mooreland, Oklahoma and remained there for over fifty years. Their son Tony Clint was born in 1963 and daughter LuSinda Jayne born in 1966. In 1975, they moved their family into the beloved house that Arnold built them on the west side of Mooreland. Vera made that house a home- her radio was always on, her feet dancing in the kitchen with something delicious in the oven.

Vera was widely known in the town of Mooreland for being someone who never met a stranger and whose home was open to all. She loved to host and make people feel seen and welcomed. Alongside her husband, Vera had eyes to love and serve those around her. A faithful member at First Baptist Church and member of the Women's Missionary Union, Vera was committed to building up God's people through service and humility, often hosting church gatherings in her home. While Vera held the role of wife and mother as most valued, she also worked at J.C Penney's, United Grocery store, Fruit of the Loom factory, Boiling Springs State Park, and at the Stock Exchange Bank where she worked as a teller for over 15 years.

She was active in the lives of all of her family members, writing and calling them often. Family events in her home were joyous occasions with homemade food and laughter heard throughout. In 2017, Vera walked her loving husband through his journey with cancer until he met the face of Jesus on February 7th, 2018. She and her treasured dog, Ewaka moved to Enid to reside with her daughter LuSinda in 2019, where she spent the rest of her days loving her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On Sunday morning, September 14th, 2025 Vera woke up to see the face of her King Jesus. She raised her hands in praise as she entered into rest and joined in the eternal song around the Throne.

She is remembered by her sons Vance Duane Haskins and wife Dee of Mustang, Max Lane Haskins and wife Kayla of Joshua, TX, Tony Clint Haskins and wife Janet of Woodward, and daughter LuSinda Jayne Spann and husband Matthew of Enid; 13 grandchildren: Josh Haskins and wife Jennifer, Jessica Bointy and husband Clayton, Adrianne Haskins, Allie Haskins, Aidan Haskins, Tyson Smith and wife Jamie, Danny Smith, Shawn Haskins and wife Megan, Jacob Haskins, Paul Spann, Karrington Swadley and husband Tyler, Lydia Goss and husband Colton, and Caleb Spann and wife Rebekah; 15 great-grandchildren: Karlee, Payton, Jace, Casen, Cooper, Chloe, Ty, Ben, Jaxon, Adalynn, Lily Grace, Amos, Annalie, Rosalie, Ivory, as well as one on the way; a host of nieces and nephews; in addition to many others for whom she was like a second mother.
