Harold Duane Deever, Jr

September 15, 1949 ~ January 19, 2021

Harold Duane Deever, Jr., 71 years old, a resident of Ma'ili Point, Hawaii (formerly of Mooreland, Ok) died January 19, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Mooreland, February 2, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at the Mooreland Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Harold was born Sept. 15, 1949 to Harold and Edna (Hedding) Deever in Concordia, Kansas. Harold, Jr and Edna travelled with Harold Sr. for his work that took them to various locations in Illinois, Kansas, and Oklahoma. They settled down in Mooreland when Harold was in the 5th grade where he graduated from Mooreland High School with the class of 1967. He went on to college, but was drafted into the Army. He served his time in the jungles of Vietnam and was a purple heart recipient. When he came home he was ready to get serious about college at Oklahoma State University achieving a degree in Ag Ed. He taught for 2 years in Medford and then he and Tami returned to Mooreland. Harold worked in pipeline construction for several years and that would lead to his work in Hawaii. Not long before Harold & Tami relocated to Hawaii they were blessed with a baby girl, Chelsea. She was always the apple of her daddy's eye and never failed to make him laugh! He was always amazed that one so small could be so fierce!

In 1998 Harold started his own business Latigo Construction. He would confidently assure everyone that he had the best employees on the planet. Many have been with the company for many years and who are considered a big extended family.

Harold was also an avid supporter of the Hawaii High School Rodeo Association and a gifted and generous coach and sponsor to a number of young competitors. He held several state offices in the HHSRA through the years. It was through this rodeo association that Harold and Tami were honored with 2 "extra kids" that they proudly claimed as their own (even though each has their own parents) in Adrianne Cruz & Jesse Dowsett.

Harold is survived by his wife Tami of 47 years, daughter Chelsea Elizabeth & son-in-law Jonathan Sutton with grandson Quinn Kaulaili and granddaughter Lila May. Nephews Kedron Sittner of Mooreland, OK and daughter Tatum of Woodward, OK, Brady (Rachelle) Sittner, children Layne and Trinity of Brush, CO. Also survived by "hanai" daughter Adrianne (Steven) Cruz and children Reata and Romel of Moorpark, CA and Jesse (Leah) Dowsett and grandson Keli'imaika'I of Kaneohe, HI. Aunt Barbara (Jim) Weber of Bellvue, NE and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and sister-in-law Joanna Sittner. Mask are required at funeral and graveside services.
