MAVIS LYN SALAZAR

Memorial: 10:00 AM Saturday, February 21st, 2015 Waynoka Church of Christ

Mavis Brooks Salazar, 50 year old Mooreland resident, died Friday, February 13, 2015 at her home in Mooreland. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Church of Christ in Waynoka with Bill David Walker officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Mavis Lyn (Brooks) Salazar was born on September 22, 1964 in Amarillo, Texas to Tommy Glenn and Patsy Jean (Wilson) Brooks. Mavis grew up in Waynoka and Amarillo, Texas and graduated from high school in Amarillo. She worked at the Bruckner’s Children’s Center in Amarillo, Texas. Mavis moved to Mooreland from Waynoka in 2013 and has lived there since that time.

She loved to read and was very much into Law & Order, Special Victims Unit. Mavis loved spending time with her family, they meant the world to her.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert Salazer Jr and girlfriend Brittney Parker, Sammy Salazar; two grandchildren, Eric Salazar and Robert Salazar III, all of Amarillo, Texas; sisters, Jan Whipple of Oklahoma City, Patricia Scott and husband Shane of Amarillo, Texas; one brother, Deland Brooks and wife Gina of Greenboro, North Carolina; three nephews, Dustin Whipple of Oklahoma City, Conard Heartzog of Portland, Oregon, Blaine McKnight of Durant; three nieces, Brandi Larance Kowing and Jeannie Lerance Long of Waynoka and Jessica Soland of Amarillo, Texas; her special friend David Cook of Waynoka; many great nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Mavis was preceded in death by her father, Tommy Glenn Brooks, her mother Patsy Wilson Brooks and two sisters, Tommie Brooks Heartzog and Cheryl Brooks Larance.
