Jim Koch, 68 year old former Shattuck and Woodward resident, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014 in Corpus Christi, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with James Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 5:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m.

Jimmie Ray Koch was born on February 8, 1946 in Higgins, Texas to Deabold and Esther (Kraft) Koch. Jim was raised in Shattuck and graduated from Shattuck High School in 1964. Jim served in the United States Army Reserves from 1964 to 1970. Jim worked in the oilfield industry and owned Sunrise Painting and Sandblasting in Woodward for many years before moving to Trinidad, Colorado to work for Pioneer Natural Resources. Later he transferred to Corpus Christi, Texas where he continued to work for Pioneer Natural Resources.

Jim was united in marriage to Connie Jividen on February 16, 1968. They were blessed with four children, Ashley, Jason, Kendall, and Amber. In 1997, he married Shirley “Sheryl” Doll and became step-father to her two daughters, Tara and Shannon.

Jim touched the lives of everyone he met. He enjoyed fishing, boating, wood-crafting, and feeding his bears, Ben and Lucy, and his squirrel, Pee-Wee. He loved sending random text messages to his children with pictures from flowers, boating trips, fish and crabs he had caught. Most of all, he loved sharing his activities and hobbies with his children and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Sheryl Koch of Corpus Christi, Texas; his children, Ashley and Leroy of Mooreland, Jason and Danica of Woodward, Kendall and Amber of Woodward, Amber and Tobey of Davis, Donnie and Michelle of Woodward; Sheryl’s children, Tara and Jeremy of Austin, Texas, Shanon and John of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one sister Sandy Osmus and husband Duane of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Brooke, Morgan, and Madison; Keiton, Payten, and Jaydan; Emma, Taylor, and Camryn; Lacie, Kalie, Makala and Chazton; Ariel, Austen, Nathan, Erica, and Tara; great-grandchildren, Aliya and Ava; niece, DeAnn and husband Mike Mangham of Louisiana and their children, Hayley and Shelby; nephew, Daryl and Michelle Osmus of Edmond and their children, Matthew and Sidney; Uncle Fred and wife Vada Kraft of Slapout; Aunt Clara Kraft of Follett, Texas; special friend Brandon Toci of Victoria, Texas; other relatives and many friends.
