JAMES R. HOSEY

23 Feb 1970 - 25 Oct 2010

Woodward, Okla. — James R. Hosey, 40 year old Woodward resident, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010 at his home in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Woodward. Interment will be in the Lone Star Cemetery in Pretty Prairie, Kansas at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

James Roy Hosey was born on February 23, 1970 at Ashland, Kansas; he was the son of Donald Dee and Mary Berniece (Balenseifen) Hosey. James attended school at Alva and Carmen-Dacoma, graduating from Carmen-Dacoma High School in 1988. He attended college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and received his Bachelor of Science Degree and his Masters of Education degree. James did his student teaching at Gage schools under the direction of long time family friend, Jack Forbes. He went to work at the Mooreland schools as a teacher in 1996. James taught and helped coach football at Mooreland until 2002. He went to work at Peckham school as a teacher and Assistant Principal before moving to Woodward in 2004. He was certified to teach numerous subjects, including Elementary Education, Physical Education, Business Education, Language Arts, American and Oklahoma History, Economics, Geography, Sociology, U.S. Government, World History, Psychology, Social Studies, Marketing, Career and Technology Business, Agriculture Education, Driver/Safety Education, and Technology Education.

James was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He worked with the Boy Scouts of America and helped coach little league. While he was in college, he was awarded Who's Who and while teaching, he was honored as Teacher of the Year. James was a loving son, brother and friend who will be missed by all.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Hosey of Alva; his brother Keith Hosey; nieces, Jacque Peffly and Nicole Hosey; nephews, Justin Hosey and Shelby Hosey; great nieces and nephews, Destiny Peffly, Drake Peffly, Jared Peffly, Jonathan Peffly, Jordan Malone, Skylar Chappell, Caitlin Chappell, Harley Hosey and Andrew Hosey; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pearl B. Balenseifen, Elizabeth Hosey. Homer Balenseifen, J.R. Hosey and his father, Donald D. Hosey.

James favorite Bible verses are Psalm 23, "The Shepherd Psalm", and "The Lord's Prayer".

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Diabetes research with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
