Anna Ruth Simpson Waggoner

June 20, 1929 ~ February 11, 2019

Anna Ruth Waggoner, 89 year old Woodward resident, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019 in Lexington, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Anna Ruth (Simpson) Waggoner was born on June 20, 1929 in Sharon, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of Percy and Fayette Belle (Johnson) Simpson. She grew up in Sharon and Woodward and graduated from Woodward High School. Anna Ruth was united in marriage to John W. (Johnny) Waggoner on September 19, 1948 at the First United Methodist Church of Woodward. They made their first home in Sulphur, Oklahoma before moving to Woodward nine months later.

Anna Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She loved camping, fishing, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who she loved dearly.

She is survived by her sons: Steven Waggoner and wife Sandra of Denton, Texas, Doug Waggoner and wife Moira of Norman; three grandchildren, Stefanie Moss and husband Jeff, Sean Waggoner and wife Thuy, Beth Baker and husband Jason; great-grandchildren, Preston, Ethan, and Owen Moss, Sammy, Bastion, and Jackson Baker, Madison and Oliver Waggoner; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Johnny in 2011, sisters, Marvella Kirbie, and Wanda Potts.
