HERBERT NEAL STOUT

Herb Stout, 82-year-old Woodward resident, died Monday, August 21, 2017, in Woodward. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2017, in the First Christian Church with the Rev. Ronnie Hopkins officiating.

Interment follows in Elmwood Cemetery , with arrangements by the Billings Funeral Home.

Herbert Neal Stout was born on his mother's birthday March 22, 1935, in Woodward County near Freedom, the son of William Carl and Opal Velva (White) Stout.

At the age of three, Herb's family moved to Tangier. Herb attended school in Tangier, and graduated from Tangier High School. He then attended South West State College of Mechanics now Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

On July 11, 1954, he was united in marriage to Marian Lou Chase at the First Christian Church in Woodward. They made their first home in Weatherford.

The couple soon returned to Woodward, where they remained until 1975, when they moved to Fairview. Herb worked at Melvin Nix Sinclair Station, Cowden Manufacturing, Trego's Westwear, Woodward Glass, Dowell, and Ashland Oil Company.

In 2013, Herb and Marian returned to Woodward, where he worked for MAGB.

Throughout his life Herb, had a love for the simple things in life. He was a happy man if he could work the farm and check cattle. He enjoyed watching the Thunder, calling all the plays throughout the game.

He was a member of the Fairview Wranglers, Woodward Jaycees, Woodward Masonic Lodge, and the Queen Esther in Woodward, and Cherokee. Herb was a lifetime member of the Woodward Masonic Lodge and was a former Worthy Patron of the Queen Esther Chapter of the Eastern Star Lodge.

Herb was a dedicated family man, his wife, children, grandchildren, and Grand Family The Dream Weavers of the Order of the Eastern Star were his true joys in life.

He was member of the First Christian Church in Woodward.

Herb is survived by his wife Marian of the home; two daughters, Gena Swofford and husband John of Shawnee; Londa Hunter all of Shawnee; four grandchildren, Will Hunter; Grant Swofford; Derrick Hunter; and Macy Swofford; one great-grandchild, Jake Hunter; brother, Bill Stout of Woodward; several nieces, nephews other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; sister, Evelyn; three brothers, Marvin, Charlie, and Leslie Joe; mother and father-in-law, B.N. and Maymie Chase.

Memorial contributions may be given the First Christian Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
