JAMES WILLIAM ROGERS

August 26, 1937 - September 19, 2017

James William “Nubbin” Rogers, 80 year old Woodward resident, died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in Oklahoma City. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Elmwood Cemetery with Reverend Donnetta Hunter officiating.

James William Rogers was born August 26, 1937 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Roy Rogers and Marietta Hoover, but was raised by J.A. “Dick” and Cherry Johnson in Oakland, Oklahoma. Nubbin attended Oakland and Madill schools and graduated from Madill High School and attended Murray State College. He was involved in rodeo at a young age. He was united in marriage to Delores Schlegel on July 18, 1969 in Hoisington, Kansas. Nubbin worked in the oilfield all of his life and he spent three years working in Saudi Arabia. He started out as a Roughneck and ended up owning his own consulting business.

He loved going to the donut shop and drinking coffee and gossiping with his buddies. Nubbin enjoyed watching OU football, the Dallas Cowboys and attending ZZ Top concerts. His wiener dogs, Tubby, Peanut, Sissy, and Minnie were his joys. Nubbin loved his fishing trips with his sons and grandsons and loved watching Haylee play soccer and cheering at football games, and chauffeuring her around. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying across country and to Madill to see the grandkids.

He is survived by children: James “Jimmy” Warren Rogers and wife Cindy of Oakland, Oklahoma, Dean Rogers of Norman, Oklahoma, Bradley Rogers of Madill, Oklahoma, Roxanne Stavig and husband Doug of Cedar Park, Texas, Lori Waddle and husband Wade of Woodward; grandchildren: Michael Rogers and fiancé Rachel Lenson of Guthrie, Kelsey Lawrence and husband Spencer of Oakland, Oklahoma, Whitney Ehlo of Dallas, Texas, Chase Ehlo of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Hardy Rogers of Madill, Oklahoma, Alexis Williams and husband Hunter of Abilene, Texas, Haylee Waddle of Woodward; great-grandchild, Stetson Lawrence; one brother Charles “Buddy” Rogers and wife Carol of Blackwell, Oklahoma; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman and Ila Fair and sister-in-law, Berneice Clingenpeel; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Delores Rogers on April 8, 2013.
