EVALINE PRICE

9 Aug 1919 - 27 Mar 2016

Graveside: 2:00 PM Thursday, March 31st, 2016 - Elmwood Cemetery

Evaline Price, 96 year old Woodward resident died Sunday, March 27, 2016 in Mooreland. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 31, 2016 in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Eva was born on a small farm near Bristow, Oklahoma on August 9, 1919. Between the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, and World War I, there were no easy lives back then. When she was 15 years old, she contracted Tuberculosis. To survive she had to live many years in the Western Oklahoma Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Clinton, Oklahoma. Eventually she was moved to the Fort Supply Sanatorium, where she was healed and learned her crafts as a seamstress, and how to garden. Thanks to a wonderful couple that worked at Fort Supply named Pete and Bonnie McKenna, she was able to move out on her own for the first time in her life. She was treated like family by the McKenna’s.

Her neighbor and best friend was Mable Gaston. In 1981, she met and soon married her first love, Amos Price. They moved to Mutual to raise a huge garden every summer and they enjoyed all the family that lived near them. Soon after Amos passed away, she moved back to Woodward to live out her days. Until 2013 for health reasons, she moved into the Mooreland Heritage Manor where she still worked every day. She was either crocheting or sewing something day in and day out until this Easter Sunday 2016.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Amos Price, other family, Ray Holman, Leroy Wreath, Vernon Miller, and Jenni Miller.

She is survived by Wilma Holman, Yvonne Wreath, Sandy Miller; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and special friend Anita Helms, daughter of Pete and Bonnie.
