Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Elmwood Cemetery. Burial will follow under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Marilyn Jane (Wilson) Poulson was born on December 13, 1939 in Delta, Colorado to Guy and Etta Mae (Durham) Wilson. During the first year of her life, Marilyn’s family moved to Booker, Texas in 1940 where they lived until 1944. The family then moved to Woodward, Oklahoma where Marilyn lived the remainder of her life. Marilyn attended Woodward public schools, graduating in 1958. During high school, through a vocational training program, Marilyn began working for SW Bell Telephone Company in Woodward at the age of 17 doing a split shift as an Operator.

She was united in marriage to E. Dean Poulson of Mutual, Oklahoma in May of 1961 at Woodward, Oklahoma. Dean and Marilyn began married life in a garage apartment on 9th Street in Woodward. Following high school graduation, Marilyn sustained a long, successful career with SW Bell Telephone Company, working 26 years in Woodward and the final four years of employment drove to their Enid offices every work day. Shortly after retirement, she opened Marilyn’s Boutique, selling fine women’s apparel and shoes in Woodward.

Throughout childhood and adult life, Marilyn attended and was baptized at the First Christian Church of Woodward. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and the Women’s International Bowling Congress.

Marilyn enjoyed bowling, working in her yard and she was very proud of her two grandsons, loving time they spent in her home and keeping in touch by phone between visits. She especially enjoyed summers they spent in Woodward. Woodward’s weekly bowling league and driving bowling friends nearly every year to national bowling tournaments around the United States were also among her happiest times.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Mae Wilson; Clarence “Jum” and Chrysanthe “Chrissy” Poulson; her brother, Jack Wilson; her husband, Dean Poulson; and a beloved nephew, Wesley Bowers.

Marilyn is survived by one son, Dennis, of Woodward; two grandsons, Devin Poulson of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Dalton Poulson of Stillwater, Oklahoma; one brother, Melvin Wilson of Perry; one sister, Shirley Carroll of Yukon; numerous nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends.
