Amy Renee Stephens-Nickels, 42 year old Woodward resident, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 19, 2022 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Donnetta Hunter officiating.

Amy Renee Stephens was born on February 17, 1980 to David and Cindee Stephens. She was a Woodward High School graduate, where she played the baritone in band. Soon after graduating she married Danny Nickels and she gave birth to her first child, a daughter, Keira Lynn Nickels. They made their home in Fargo, Oklahoma.

Amy worked for Mutual of Omaha in Woodward for several years. She met the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with, Rick Cowdrey and opened her arms to Rick's son, Ethan Cowdrey. They made their home in Yukon, Oklahoma where she gave birth to their son, Kaden Cowdery. After Kaden's birth, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Amy refused to give up and was a ten year survivor of breast cancer. She was a member of several cancer support groups and was very inspirational to others. Amy encouraged all women to do monthly self checks and yearly mammograms. She was very active in her children's and nephews lives which included sports and Girl Scouts. Amy enjoyed cooking, playing softball and OU Football. Her happiest times were spent with her family and many friends.

Amy was preceded in death by her father David R. Stephens, maternal grandparents Vernon and Louise Williams and paternal grandmother Janice Wilson.

She is survived by her children: Keira Nickels of Woodward and Kaden Cowdrey both of Woodward; Ethan Cowdrey of Enid; her mother Cindee Stephens of Woodward; sister Heather Stephens of Woodward; brother Christopher Stephens of Woodward; nephews, David YellowEagle and Eric YellowEagle both of Woodward; Aaron YellowEagle of Oklahoma City; great nephews, Julian YellowEagle and David YellowEagle; other family and many friends.
